How it works

Pay day schedules

In short

A schedule decides when a vendor's cleared sales land as a payout. Pay on set days, like the 1st of every month; some days after each sale; once they're owed enough; or when they ask. Until you choose one, nothing lands by itself.

AdminIn the app: Settings, then Terms

Your schedule reads as one sentence in Settings, then Terms:

Pay vendors every month on the 1st, for sales up to the day before.

Press its first words to choose another kind, and any other underlined part to change it. There are four kinds.

On set days#

Payouts land on days you choose, for everything that has cleared by then. Most shops pay this way.

ChoicePay days
Every monthA day of the month, like the 1st. On the 29th to 31st, "in a shorter month it lands on the last day."
Twice a monthTwo days of the month, like the 1st and 16th
Every weekA day of the week, like Monday
Every two weeksEvery other week, from a first pay day you pick
Every three monthsEvery three months, from a first pay day you pick
Every few daysA number of days between pay days, from a first pay day

What each payout covers decides which sales a pay day takes:

  • Sales up to the day before. The default.
  • Sales up to a few days before. "Time to check the payout before it is paid."
  • Last month's sales, for monthly and three-monthly pay days.
  • Last week's sales, for weekly and two-weekly pay days.

A sale joins the first pay day that covers it and comes after it has cleared its holds. Example The mug sold on 3 September and cleared on 18 September; the first pay day after that covering 3 September is 1 October.

You can also turn on A pay day on a weekend moves to the Friday before.

Some days after each sale#

Each sale lands a set number of days after it sold, or as soon as it clears if that's later. Choose As it clears to pay each sale the day its holds end.

Later sales brought along stops a vendor getting a payout for every sale. With 7 days, a payout takes along every sale the vendor made in the 7 days after its first one, so those sales are paid early, never late.

Example Some days after each sale, 30 days, bringing along 7 days: a sale on 3 September lands on 3 October, with any sale from 4 to 10 September that has cleared.

Once they're owed enough#

A payout lands once what a vendor has cleared reaches an amount, like $100.00. How often it is checked sets the rhythm: every day, once a week, or once a month on a day you pick.

Latest pay day stops a quiet vendor waiting for ever: No latest date waits until they reach the amount, or pay what has cleared every few months at the latest.

When they ask#

Vendors ask to be paid from their own page, and How an ask is answered decides what happens:

  • You accept each ask. It waits in Payouts, marked Asked to be paid, until you accept it with Pay now.
  • It goes by itself. What has cleared lands within the hour after they ask.
  • It goes by itself once they're owed enough. Under the amount, you accept by hand.

See When a vendor asks to be paid.

Not chosen yet#

Until you choose a schedule, nothing lands by itself. Every sale still earns and clears its holds, and shows No date yet. You can pay anyone at any time with Pay now.

Changing your schedule#

A change starts tomorrow unless you pick another day. Sales that already have a pay day keep it, and later sales follow the new schedule; tick Move them too to move them now. A vendor can have their own schedule on their Terms tab, while everyone else follows yours.

Common questions#

Which schedule should I pick?
Every month on the 1st, for sales up to the day before, unless your agreement says otherwise. It's what vendors expect and the easiest to check. More
Why didn't a sale make this month's payout?
It hadn't cleared its holds by the pay day. It joins the first pay day after it clears. Its row in Upcoming says when. More
Can one vendor be paid weekly and the rest monthly?
Yes. Give that vendor their own schedule on their Terms tab. More
Can I pay someone before their pay day?
Yes, with Pay now. It lands their payout today with everything that has cleared. More
