Reading Overview
In short
Overview is the first page you see: how vendor sales are going this month, what you owe vendors right now and when the next payout lands, who's selling, and anything that needs you before money can move.
Overview answers the questions you'd ask over coffee: how's the month going, what do I owe, and is anything stuck? Every number on it opens the page that explains it.
Store setup#
Until your setup is finished, a line at the top shows each part as a chip: Consignor rate, Schedule, Holds, Agreement, Charges, Written agreement and Record start. An amber chip still needs an answer; a green one is answered. Continue picks up where you left off. See Install and Store setup.

Vendor sales#
The big card is the sales of your vendors' products, this month so far. If you pay on set days, like the 1st and the 15th, it's the stretch of sales your next pay day covers instead, named by its dates.
- The headline is what vendors' products sold, after discounts, with Day 6 of 31 to show how far through you are. When there were refunds, the line under it says how much went back and what's left after them, like "$41.25 refunded, $187.75 after refunds".
- Sales by day draws what sold each day. A refund never draws below the line; point at a day to see what was refunded on it.
- You kept and Vendors earned split what's left after refunds into your shares. Tax collected shows when there was some.
A refund can come off this month for a sale made in an earlier one, so a quiet month can refund more than it sold. Then You kept goes below zero, and Share you keep says "None yet" rather than a percentage of a negative.
Where there's a month before to compare with, each figure says how it moved against the same point last month, so October's first week is compared with September's first week, not all of September.
Your own products aren't in these figures, and neither are sales of vendors who have no consignor rate yet. A footnote says how many vendors that leaves out.
Owed to vendors right now#
What you'd pay if every vendor's money were settled today, split into Scheduled and To pay. Under it, Next payout says when the next payouts land and what they add up to, like "2 payouts land Sun, 1 Nov, $380.35". When nothing is dated but payouts have landed, it says "Record payments for payouts that landed" instead.
The four numbers#
| Number | Means |
|---|---|
| Orders | Orders with at least one vendor item, and how many vendor items sold |
| Average order | What an order spent on vendor items, before refunds |
| Refunded | What went back to customers, and how much of it came off revenue |
| Share you keep | Your share as a part of vendor revenue after refunds, before your own costs |
Share you keep is the one to watch over time. If it drifts down, open Reports: a vendor on a high rate selling more, or more discounts, usually explains it.
Vendors this month#
Your vendors ranked by what they sold, each with what you kept from them. A vendor appears with their first order. Press one to open their page.
Needs you#
Everything you have to do before money can move, and only that:
- "8 vendors have no consignor rate yet, so their sales earn nothing yet." Set them up.
- A number of records that "need a decision before the vendors they touch can be paid." See what needs you.
When there's nothing: "Every vendor has a consignor rate and no record waits on a decision." The bell at the bottom of the sidebar counts the same things.
Worth knowing#
Notes that hold no money back, worth a glance:
- Refunds this month and what share of sales they were, or that they came to more than was sold.
- A vendor who made a big part of your vendor sales.
- How many vendors haven't sold anything this month. A good list to call or check stock for.
- Sales of products with no vendor, which are yours unless you say otherwise.
- How your share kept compares with the same point last month.
When it looks wrong#
The sales figure is lower than Shopify's#
Overview counts vendor sales only, after discounts, without tax or shipping. Your own products and vendors without a consignor rate are left out, and refunds come off on the day they happened. Shopify's sales figure includes all of those.
It says "Reading your orders from Shopify for the first time"#
VendorDue is reading your orders from Shopify. Sales show within minutes; a large store's history can take longer. You can keep setting up while it reads.
Common questions#
- Can I see last month?
- Overview shows the current month or pay period. For any other dates, use Reports, or Activity with Jump to. More
- Why is Share you keep different from my consignor rates?
- It's across every vendor and every sale, after discounts and refunds. One vendor at 60% and another at 80% average out by what each sold. More
- Does a Viewer see the same Overview?
- Yes. A Viewer reads all of it; only an Admin can act on what it points to. More
Thanks. We read every answer.
